Myopia Management

Myopia management focuses on slowing the progression of short-sightedness in children and young people, rather than simply correcting blurred distance vision. Using evidence-based options such as specialist contact lenses, myopia control spectacle lenses, and clinically approved eye drops where appropriate, we aim to support clearer vision while helping to reduce the risk of higher myopia later in life.

At your appointment, we assess your child’s vision, eye health, prescription history, lifestyle, and family risk factors before recommending a personalised management plan. Regular reviews allow us to monitor changes closely and adjust the approach as needed, giving parents confidence that their child’s eyes are being cared for proactively.

Our Most Common Treatment

MiSight 1 day Contact Lenses

MiSight™ contact lenses are designed to give children clear vision at all distances while helping manage myopia progression. Using ActivControl™ Technology, they combine everyday visual clarity with specialist treatment zones. These zones create myopic retinal defocus, helping to slow the progression of short-sightedness over time.

MyCon lenses

Rodenstock MyCon™ lenses are specially designed spectacle lenses for children with myopia, helping to provide clear vision while supporting myopia control. Their lens design creates peripheral myopic defocus, which may help slow the progression of short-sightedness in children.

Essilor Stellest

Essilor® Stellest® lenses are designed for children with progressing myopia, also known as short-sightedness. They provide clear vision while helping to manage how quickly myopia progresses. Clinical research has shown that Stellest® lenses can slow myopia progression by 67% on average compared with standard single-vision lenses, when worn for 12 hours a day. At Auptician, we can assess your child’s vision, explain whether Stellest® lenses are suitable, and monitor their progress with regular reviews.

Orthokeratology

Orthokeratology, often called Ortho-K, uses specially designed contact lenses that are worn overnight to gently reshape the front surface of the eye while you sleep. In the morning, the lenses are removed and many patients can enjoy clear vision during the day without glasses or contact lenses. Ortho-K may also be considered as part of a myopia management plan for suitable children. At Auptician, we will assess your eyes carefully, explain whether Ortho-K is suitable for you or your child, and provide ongoing reviews to monitor comfort, vision and eye health.
